Description
This project aims to restore natural freshwater ecosystems by re-establishing natural water dynamics, including the support of beaver activity, and creating structurally diverse aquatic and riparian habitats. Measures include the development of spawning and shallow-water zones, small water bodies, and structured riparian areas to enhance ecological resilience and biodiversity. The project particularly supports endangered species such as the Yellow-bellied Toad, Great Crested Newt, crayfish, and the Eurasian Beaver. In addition, long-term management and monitoring concepts will be developed to ensure sustainable ecological outcomes.

Description
As a continuation of the long-term monitoring of the fish-ecological succession of the Marchfeldkanal, an artificially created tributary of the Danube, which has been regularly studied since it was flooded in 1993, a fish ecological status assessment was done. The project also involved collating recent with historical data, and analysing the fish-ecological succession. Based on this, recommendations for action were developed to preserve the ecological functions of man-made side channels like the Marchfeldkanal.

Pre- and post fish ecological monitoring in connection with the underwater dredging at the Hausmening hydroelectric power station

Description
Following a major flood in 2024, dredging was required in the downstream section of the Hausmening power station to restore the original drop height. This dredging was planned and carried out as sustainable as possible in consultation with the power station operator and the fishing right owners. Limnosolve was commissioned to document the impact of the dredging work on the local fish population.

Description
The Project focuses on the ecological effects of hydropeaking on fish in the Drava River, Croatia. LimnoSolve was commissioned to document fish larvae stranding caused by hydropeaking, install and maintain hydrological monitoring stations, and conduct standardized field surveys of macroinvertebrates and juvenile fish in hydropeaking-affected and reference river sections to evaluate ecological impacts. The collected hydrological and ecological data provide the basis for further analyses by BOKU University.
