LimnoSolve - Team for Applied Limnology

LimnoSolve is an interdisciplinary team of scientists specialising in limnology. Our mission is to address some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time:

  • Swiftly halt biodiversity loss and foster long-term recovery through the protection and restoration of aquatic ecosystems.
  • Mitigate human-induced climate change and its adverse socio-economic and ecological effects through focused interventions and sustainable practices.“

LimnoSolve unites expertise in fish, benthic invertebrate and algae ecology, hydromorphology, biogeochemistry, river landscape analysis, and project coordination. By integrating these diverse fields, we aim to advance a comprehensive understanding of freshwater ecosystems and deliver applied solutions that improve their ecological health and resilience.

Team Hydromorphology studies the physical characteristics of water bodies, evaluating their structure, flow, and dynamics. Team Fish investigates the interactions among fish species and their populations, providing insights into ecosystem balance. Team Benthic Invertebrates provides and monitors key indicators of water quality and ecosystem health, while Team Algae focuses on primary productivity and its role in ecosystem functioning. Team Biogeochemistry explores the chemical processes that drive nutrient cycles and energy flow within aquatic environments and Team Riverscape analyses changes in aquatic ecosystems  both small and large scales. Together, this comprehensive approach offers a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay between hydromorphological processes, chemical cycles, and biotic responses within freshwater ecosystems.

LimnoSolve’s collaborative approach seamlessly integrates specialised expertise to deliver tailored solutions for sustainable water management and environmental conservation. Leveraging the diversity of our teams, we provide precise assessments and in-depth analyses of freshwater systems. From tackling complex ecological challenges to conducting environmental impact assessments and designing restoration strategies, LimnoSolve is dedicated to enhancing the health and resilience of freshwater ecosystems, ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
